The latest Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase delivered a wealth of exciting news for Capcom fans. Highlights include a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds, reveals for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – New Details Revealed

PlayTargeted for a 2026 release, *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* promises a compelling experience built around three key pillars: memorable characters, a fresh protagonist, and engaging enemies. The developers aim to recreate the historical setting of Kyoto with remarkable accuracy, incorporating real-life locations. The ultimate goal is to deliver visceral, satisfying sword-fighting action accessible to players of all skill levels. While details on the protagonist remain scarce, the game is set in the Edo period and features battles against Genma. A twist of fate grants the protagonist an Oni Gauntlet, a powerful weapon fueled by the souls of vanquished foes. The challenge will be significant, but balanced for broad appeal.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny – Remastered in 2025

PlayThe 2002 classic, *Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny*, receives a remastered release in 2025, bridging the gap until the arrival of *Onimusha: Way of the Sword*.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Open Beta 2 Details

PlayThe second Open Beta for *Monster Hunter Wilds* introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Also included are a Gypceros Hunt, an explorable training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies offer private gameplay with friends, while Online Single Player allows solo play with the option to switch to multiplayer via S.O.S. Flare. Data from the first Open Beta can be transferred, and returning elements include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th. The Open Beta 2, featuring cross-play, runs:

  • Thursday, February 6th, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 9th, 6:59 PM PT
  • Thursday, February 13th, 7 PM PT – Sunday, February 16th, 6:59 PM PT
PlayCharacter data transfers to the full game, but progress does not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.

Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies

The new story trailer showcases the frigid Iceshard Cliffs, home to new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami (Leviathan), Nerscylla (Temnoceran), and the formidable Gore Magala. Further insights into the flagship monster, Arkveld, are also provided.
