HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 will feature previously unseen content from the game's development, according to showrunner Neil Druckmann. Druckmann revealed to Entertainment Weekly that "pretty brutal" cut content, including elements from the "Lost Levels" restored in the PS5 remaster of The Last of Us Part II, will be incorporated into the show. These levels, such as Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers, offer a range of tones, from the relatively peaceful party scene and boar hunt to the intense horror of Ellie's escape through the Seattle sewers.

The inclusion of this cut content promises intense moments for viewers. Druckmann hinted at the appearance of a previously unshown "pretty prominent" character, mirroring the Season 1 introduction of Frank.

Season 2 introduces a substantial cast of new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains a mystery.

With the Season 2 premiere slated for April, many questions will be answered. However, unlike Season 1's adaptation of the first game, Part II's story will extend beyond a single season. Showrunner Craig Mazin has stated that Part II contains a vast amount of material, leading to a planned "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes, leaving the possibility of a Season 3 open.
