BREAKING: MultiVersus Faces Closure as Player Count Plummets

MultiVersus Season 5: A Last Stand?

Industry insider AusilMV, known for accurate game leaks, suggests that Season 5 of MultiVersus could be its final season if it fails to perform well. A source close to the development team reportedly indicated that Season 5 is a last-ditch attempt to revive the game's dwindling player base. While this remains a rumor, the current situation is certainly precarious.

The game's initial launch in 2022 saw phenomenal success, peaking at 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, a dramatic 99% player drop followed shortly thereafter, leading Warner Bros. Games to shut down the project in June 2023, controversially labeling it an "open beta test." A relaunch with updates occurred in May 2024, yet the game hasn't been able to recapture its initial popularity.

With Season 5 commencing in early February, the developers face a critical juncture. This season represents their final opportunity to reignite player interest and potentially salvage the game. The initial 2022 release, now retrospectively termed a "beta," was initially well-received by players. However, the subsequent March 2023 announcement of a temporary shutdown (followed by the June closure) caused significant backlash, particularly among those who had purchased the premium edition.
