Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event treats Call of Duty fans to a comprehensive blog detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.

The star of the show is The Tomb, a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This marks another exciting addition to the Zombies universe, following Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.

Treyarch's narrative summary reveals that Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya, following Gabriel Krafft's clues, investigate an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. The Tomb, situated on ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., promises a deeper mystery than initially anticipated. While the team hints at connections to a British archeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, further details remain shrouded in secrecy.

Gameplay-wise, The Tomb offers a similar experience to Liberty Falls, focusing on tighter spaces and high replayability, encouraging players to uncover hidden Easter eggs. Treyarch also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon drawing inspiration from previous games, and the return of a beloved SMG.

Season 2 also brings highly requested quality-of-life improvements. These include the ability to track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause option for Zombies, allowing the party leader to pause mid-game, is also included. Furthermore, separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, and players will be able to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected.

The team highlighted the mode's success in boosting Main Quest completion rates, more than doubling the average since its launch.

The upcoming release of The Tomb will also bring renewed focus to the voice acting of the Zombies characters, following Activision's recent announcement regarding recasting some roles due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
