What Happens After You Beat Avowed?

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 04,2025

While Avowed's Living Lands feel vast, the main quest is surprisingly concise. For players eager for more after the credits roll, here's a post-game breakdown:

New Game Plus? Not Yet.

Many RPG fans relish replaying the main quest on higher difficulties with acquired skills and gear. Unfortunately, Avowed currently lacks New Game Plus. While not available at launch, Obsidian may add it via future updates or DLC based on player feedback.

However, replayability exists beyond New Game Plus. Avowed's impactful choices create diverse storylines and character builds, justifying a fresh playthrough for alternate endings and character development.

Avowed features four main regions, a secret final area, and a revisited major city (details withheld to avoid spoilers). Legendary-quality weapons and gear are crucial for conquering these challenging final areas. However, this challenge doesn't extend to earlier regions, and no new areas unlock post-game. The inability to revisit the Living Lands as altered by player choices is a notable omission.

Post-Game Activities:

Avowed's post-game is relatively limited due to the absence of New Game Plus and endgame content. Completion rewards a lengthy animatic cutscene summarizing the consequences of your choices. Afterwards, you're returned to the main menu.

From there, you can:

  • Start a new game: Embark on a fresh adventure with a new Envoy.
  • Reload a previous save: Access autosaves from before the final encounter and the point of no return. Replay these sections, altering choices for different story outcomes. This also allows revisiting earlier regions, cleaning up the map, completing missed side quests, and collecting missed items. Enemies in these earlier areas won't scale to your level, making it significantly easier with your upgraded gear.

In short, while Avowed offers some replay value through choice-driven narratives and the opportunity to mop up missed content, a dedicated endgame or New Game Plus mode is currently absent.

Avowed is available now on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
