Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has made the tough decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile game brought the beloved PAC-MAN experience to a new generation.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. As of April 1st, in-app purchases have been discontinued. If you're still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final date.

The gaming community has voiced significant disappointment over the complete shutdown rather than an offline version. Many players feel that an offline option would have been a satisfactory solution, allowing them to keep playing while still generating some revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered much more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with a variety of original mazes to navigate. The Adventure Mode included limited-time themed events, allowing players to earn exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode added weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels, and the game offered numerous skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

The decision to shut down the game likely stems from persistent issues and bugs that have accumulated over the years, affecting the overall gaming experience. In its early days on Android, the game sparked excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, creating a vibrant and engaging community.

If you're keen to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its closure, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
