As you delve deeper into the world of *Avowed*, you'll inevitably face tougher adversaries. To maintain your edge in combat, upgrading your gear to meet or exceed the level of these enemies is crucial. Here's a detailed guide on how to upgrade your weapons and armor in *Avowed*.

Where to Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Avowed

In *Avowed*, the key to enhancing your weapons and armor lies at the Workbench, as shown in the image above. Each upgrade requires specific materials, which vary depending on the type and Quality of the item you're upgrading. While most materials can be easily found or crafted within the game world, upgrading to a higher Quality demands progressively rarer forms of Adra.

Workbenches are conveniently located at Party Camps, which you can establish near any Adra Waystone found throughout the world. Simply interact with an Adra Waystone and choose to set up a Party Camp. These locations will then appear on your map with a tent icon, allowing you to fast travel to them for easy access to your upgrading needs.

How Weapon and Armor Leveling Works in Avowed

In *Avowed*, the power of your weapons and armor is measured in two primary ways: Quality and additional upgrade tiers. Quality is denoted by a numerical value, color rarity, and a descriptive adjective, aligning with the levels of enemies you'll encounter in the Living Lands. Gear with a lower Quality will struggle against higher-level enemies, making upgrades essential for keeping pace.

When your gear's Quality is lower than that of your foes, you'll find your weapons less effective and your armor less protective. However, gear offers bonuses against enemies of the same or lower level, so upgrading to match the rising enemy levels is key to staying combat-effective. Here's a breakdown of the weapon qualities in *Avowed*:

  • Common Quality – Green, Level I
  • Fine Quality – Blue, Level II
  • Exceptional – Purple, Level III
  • Superb – Red, Level IV
  • Legendary – Gold, Level V

Within each Quality, you can further upgrade your weapons and armor up to three additional times, marked as +0 through +3. These upgrades enhance stats, though not as significantly as increasing the Quality. Importantly, all three additional levels must be completed before you can elevate the item to the next Quality level.

Each Quality tier of gear in *Avowed* offers three additional upgrade levels. These upgrades, while less impactful than Quality increases, still provide valuable stat boosts. Remember, you must complete all three additional upgrades before advancing to the next Quality level.

Which Weapons and Armor Should You Upgrade in Avowed?

In *Avowed*, gear falls into two categories: standard and Unique. Standard gear, easily found or purchased from Merchants, serves as temporary equipment. Unique gear, however, consists of named, special items typically obtained through Main or Side Quests, or as drops from bosses or bounties. Some Merchants may also sell select Unique items.

Unique gear offers the advantage of being upgradable to Legendary Quality, surpassing the Superb limit of standard items. Additionally, Unique items come with special bonuses and perks, making them far superior to standard gear. Therefore, it's advisable to focus your resources on upgrading Unique weapons and armor, using standard gear as disposable items until you can acquire and enhance Unique pieces. Selling or breaking down standard gear to gather resources for Unique upgrades is a smart strategy.

And that's how you can effectively upgrade your weapons and armor in *Avowed* to stay ahead of the game's challenges.
