Atomic Heart 2 is officially in development at Mundfish, as announced today during the Summer Game Fest. In addition to this exciting news, Mundfish also unveiled The CUBE, a brand-new multiplayer RPG shooter set within the Atomic Heart universe.

During a newly released trailer shown at the event, fans got their first glimpse of Atomic Heart 2, which is currently in development for both PC and console platforms. Staying true to the style of its predecessor, the game will deliver an immersive blend of action-adventure gameplay with deep RPG mechanics, all set in a retrofuturistic alternate history. In this world—once envisioned as a utopia where humans and robots coexisted harmoniously—advanced AI and robotics have gone rogue, tearing society apart. As humanity teeters on the brink of collapse, players will step into the role of a lone operative tasked with preventing total annihilation.

As for The CUBE, it takes place in the same universe but several years after the events of Atomic Heart. This time, the story centers around a mysterious, colossal floating cube whose sudden appearance has triggered a series of bizarre and catastrophic events. Players must venture inside to uncover the Cube’s secrets and confront the unknown threat it poses to humanity. Described as a multiplayer RPG shooter, The CUBE is also in development for PC and consoles.

The original Atomic Heart launched in 2023 to critical acclaim, earning an 8/10 from IGN. Reviewers praised the game for its bold ambition, imaginative setting, and impressive execution of atompunk aesthetics inspired by classics like BioShock. Since launch, the game has continued to grow in popularity, recently surpassing 10 million players worldwide.

In addition to steady player growth, Atomic Heart has received multiple DLC expansions post-launch, with one final expansion still in active development, promising even more content and depth for fans of the franchise.
