Atari Classics Reborn: 39 Timeless Gems Return

Atari's 50th Anniversary Celebration expands this October with a substantial Extended Edition. This enhanced collection adds 39 more classic Atari titles to the already impressive roster of over 90 retro games, spanning consoles from the Atari 2600 to the Jaguar. The original release, launched in 2022 to commemorate Atari's milestone, featured remastered versions of beloved titles like Yar's Revenge and a compelling interactive timeline detailing Atari's history.

Launching October 25th across major platforms, including the Atari VCS, the Extended Edition significantly bolsters the experience. Two new interactive timelines, "The Wider World of Atari" and "The First Console War," provide deeper insights into Atari's enduring legacy and its pivotal role in the early console wars. "The Wider World of Atari" showcases 19 playable games and eight video segments, incorporating new interviews, vintage advertisements, and historical artifacts meticulously curated by Digital Eclipse. Meanwhile, "The First Console War" chronicles Atari's rivalry with Intellivision through 20 playable games and six video segments, highlighting a defining period in gaming history.

While the full list of new games remains undisclosed, the expansion will reportedly feature an in-depth look at the iconic 1980 shooter Berzerk, alongside lesser-known titles and fan favorites from Mattel's M Network. Physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PS5 will also be available, with the Switch version offering a collectible Steelbook featuring bonus items such as Atari 2600 art cards and a replica business card. The physical Switch edition will retail at $49.99, while the standard digital version will be priced at $39.99. This expanded edition promises a richer, more comprehensive look at Atari's remarkable impact on the gaming world.
