Alienware's Area-51 Gaming PC Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Author:Kristen Update:May 16,2025

Dell has recently enhanced its legendary Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs by introducing a new configuration option. Until recently, buyers were limited to the RTX 5080 graphics card. However, you can now equip your Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at $5,499.99. What's more, Dell is promising a swift delivery with an estimated ship date in early April, ensuring you won't have to wait months to get your hands on this powerhouse.

Priced at $5,499.99 at Alienware, this "base" configuration of the Alienware Area-51 with the RTX 5090 GPU doesn't skimp on performance. It boasts an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivering exceptional performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it doesn't surpass the performance of the i9-14900K as much as some might hope, it's currently the best Intel has to offer. The system is cooled efficiently with a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

At CES 2025, Dell unveiled the latest iteration of the Alienware Area-51 gaming PC. The new chassis retains a similar look to the 2024 R16 model but features updated aesthetics and cooling solutions. Notable changes include the I/O panel now positioned at the top of the case and a full-length tempered glass side panel that replaces the smaller cutout of the previous model. The side panel vents have been removed, and air intakes are now located at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design for a cleaner interior. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

----------------------------------------------------

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU currently available. While Nvidia has focused on enhancing software, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gameplay, the RTX 5090 still offers a significant 25%-30% improvement in raw raster performance over the RTX 4090. Additionally, it comes with more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is challenging to find at retail prices and is often listed for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially claimed the performance throne from the RTX 4090, albeit with a less dramatic increase than previous generations. In terms of traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 shows one of the smallest generational leaps we've seen recently. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 can provide substantial performance boosts, though you'll need to be comfortable with the fact that 75% of the frames are AI-generated."
