Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

Author:Kristen Update:Jul 08,2025

There’s a new Alexa in town — or at least one that’s now in early access. Meet *Alexa+*, the next evolution of Amazon’s voice assistant, now powered by generative AI. While the original Alexa has long been a staple in smart homes, Alexa+ aims to bring a more natural and fluid conversational experience. According to Amazon, “Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized — and she helps you get things done.” That means smoother interactions, better context retention, and a more intuitive way to handle everyday tasks.

Currently, Alexa+ is available in Early Access, but only on select Echo Show models — specifically the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you already own or are planning to purchase one of these devices, you can be among the first to try out this upgraded experience. Want to stay updated when Early Access opens up? • Echo Show 8 — $149.99 at Amazon
  • Echo Show 10 — $249.99 at Amazon
  • Echo Show 15 — $299.99 at Amazon
  • Echo Show 21 — $399.99 at Amazon

With its enhanced conversational flow, Alexa+ allows for more dynamic interactions. You can ask follow-up questions naturally, request detailed calendar information, manage your to-do list, book restaurant reservations, and much more — all without repeating yourself or over-explaining. Amazon also notes that new features are being added regularly during the Early Access period, so expect ongoing improvements and expanded capabilities in the near future.

Important Compatibility Notes

It's worth noting that not all Echo devices will support Alexa+. Older generations like the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to run the standard Alexa experience. However, Amazon has confirmed plans to expand Alexa+ support to additional devices soon, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and via the web at Alexa.com.
