Valve retire les jeux pour adultes de Steam suite aux nouvelles règles de paiement

Valve a renforcé ses politiques régissant le contenu réservé aux adultes pour se conformer aux exigences de ses partenaires de traitement de paiement de Steam, ce qui a entraîné la suppression de nombreux jeux à contenu sexuellement explicite de la plateforme cette semaine.

Comme rapporté par GameSpark et souligné par Automaton, les journaux d'activité de SteamDB indiquent des mises à jour significatives en backend alors que Steam révisait ses « Règles et Directives », stipulant explicitement que la distribution de « types spécifiques » de contenu pour adultes pourrait violer ces politiques.

La nouvelle section 15 introduite interdit désormais clairement « le contenu qui enfreint les réglementations établies par les processeurs de paiement de Steam, les réseaux bancaires ou les fournisseurs d'accès à Internet ».

Le compte X/Twitter de SteamDB a publié une liste extensive de jeux récemment supprimés, orientés vers un public adulte.

Cette mise à jour de la politique fait suite à une controverse plus tôt cette année lorsque le secrétaire britannique à la Technologie, Peter Kyle, a critiqué Steam pour avoir hébergé un roman visuel dépeignant des actes sexuels non consentis, incluant le viol et l'inceste. Le développeur Zerat Games a par la suite annoncé le retrait volontaire du jeu après sa suppression des boutiques britannique, canadienne et australienne.
