L'auteur de renom Stephen King a exhorté l'Académie des arts et des sciences de l'Académie des films à reporter la 97e cérémonie annuelle des prix de l'académie en raison des incendies de forêt dévastateurs en cours à Los Angeles.

Comme indiqué par Deadline, King a déclaré qu'il ne participerait pas au vote des prix de cette année et pense que l'événement devrait être reporté, citant le manque d'atmosphère de fête à Los Angeles, ravagée par le feu. Les incendies de forêt, qui ont commencé le 7 janvier, ont tragiquement fait au moins 27 vies et continuent de brûler.

L'Académie a annoncé le 13 janvier qu'elle ajuste son calendrier en 2025 en réponse aux incendies, mais n'a pas encore commenté l'annulation de la cérémonie. Le déjeuner nominé aux Oscars a cependant été annulé.
