Fireboy and Watergirl is a beloved two-player game among children, standing out in the crowded field of online and flash games. The game follows Fireboy and Watergirl as they navigate mysterious temples, solving puzzles and working together to escape. In each temple, the duo must run and jump amidst fire and water. Fireboy can safely traverse lava but must avoid water, while Watergirl can move through water but must evade lava. Both must watch out for spikes. The objective is to reach the doors leading to the next room, with Fireboy aiming for the red-marked door and Watergirl the blue-marked one. Collect diamonds matching your character's color for extra points. Speed is key to achieving higher scores and rankings.

To solve each level's puzzles, players must press buttons to activate lifts, push boxes and bricks to reach higher areas, and flip switches. Beyond mere running and jumping, the game demands teamwork: one character might need to hold a switch or platform to help the other, requiring strategic reunions at the end. Some levels challenge you to race through quickly, others to move both characters simultaneously, and some require collecting special items before exiting.
