The Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems are vital tools for individuals managing type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Designed for users aged 2 years and older, these systems provide real-time glucose readings every five minutes, enabling you to make informed diabetes treatment decisions without the need for routine fingersticks. However, if your symptoms do not align with the readings, fingersticks are required for accurate management.

One of the standout features of the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro is the comprehensive alert system. These systems offer personalized trend alerts directly to your smart device, alerting you when your glucose levels are trending too low or too high. This feature helps you proactively manage your diabetes. The Alert Schedule feature allows you to customize a second set of alerts tailored to your daily routine, such as different settings for work hours versus the rest of the day. You can also personalize alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only option on your phone, although the Urgent Low Alarm remains non-disableable for your safety.

The Always Sound setting, enabled by default, ensures you receive critical Dexcom CGM Alerts even when your phone is set to silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb mode. This allows you to mute calls and texts while still being notified of essential glucose alerts like the Urgent Low Alarm, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alert, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. A convenient home screen icon indicates whether your alerts are set to sound or not. For safety, certain alerts such as the Urgent Low Alarm, Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped cannot be silenced.

Additional features enhance the user experience. The Share function lets you send your glucose data to up to ten followers in real time via the Dexcom Follow app, which requires an internet connection. Health Connect access facilitates sharing retrospective glucose data with third-party apps. The Quick Glance feature allows you to check your glucose data on your smart device's lock screen. For those using Wear OS devices, integration with Wear OS enables viewing glucose alerts and alarms directly from your smartwatch.

Please note that the Alert Schedule, Share, Follow, and Urgent Low Soon Alert features are not available on the Dexcom G6 Pro System. Ensure you are using the appropriate system for your needs to fully benefit from these advanced features.
