To use Car Scanner, you'll need a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Bluetooth 4.0 (Bluetooth LE) OBD2 ELM327 compatible adapter. These devices connect to your car's diagnostic socket, allowing your phone to access vital diagnostic information. Recommended adapter brands include OBDLink, Kiwi 3, V-Gate, Carista, LELink, and Veepeak. Be cautious of purchasing cheap Chinese OBD2 ELM327 adapters from eBay or Amazon, especially if marked as v.2.1, as they may have numerous bugs.

Please note that the capabilities of Car Scanner are limited by the sensors supported by your vehicle's ECU. The app cannot display data that your car's system does not provide.

Be wary of "bad" adapters! Some cheap Chinese clones may struggle to connect with your smartphone or car and can even cause engine instability, frequent disconnections, and increased data reading lag. For the best experience, we strongly recommend using genuine ELM327 or the recommended adapter brands.
